British wine is booming, and there’s no better time to take in a tour of a vineyard. At Woodchester Valley, an award-winning single estate vineyard and winery in the Cotswolds, immerse yourself in all things English wine with a midweek stay.
Woodchester Valley began in 2007 after a single acre of vines was planted on its Amberley site to determine the suitability of the land. It was a success, and the winery was established in 2016, with its vintage of the same year the first time its own wines were produced on site.
We’ve teamed up with Woodchester to offer one lucky reader a vineyard stay for two. Begin with a vineyard tour to enjoy on day of arrival and a tutored tasting in the dedicated Tasting Room. You’ll then retire to the luxurious Vineyard Barn accommodation to enjoy a cosy evening by the fire with stunning views across the Cotswold valleys.
Its first vintage, a crisp dry Bacchus, was produced from a 2010 harvest. This was followed by a further planting in 2011, and an additional 20 acres at its Woodchester site in 2012, and then another 20 acres in Stonehouse in 2013.
In 2024, it was voted Best in the West in the 2024 WineGB Awards, and is regularly listed among the top 10 vineyards in the country. With 58 acres under vine now, it produces a variety of still and sparkling wines, which has won multiple awards.
