Win a two-night stay for two at Great Scotland Yard Hotel, in London. The prize includes breakfast each morning and a Champagne afternoon tea.
Steeped in secrets and history, this Edwardian town house is full of clues to its past life as headquarters of the Metropolitan Police. Located in a quiet side street just off Whitehall, within easy walking distance of many of London’s famous landmarks, the origins of the name lie in the building’s forerunner: a medieval palace for visiting Scottish royalty.
With so many stories woven into the foundations, it’s no surprise that this unique property has made it into Hyatt’s Unbound collection (a portfolio of one-of-a-kind hotels). A hidden door in a bookcase leads you to Síbín – Irish for ‘illicit bar’ – a speakeasy bar where cocktails, as well as a vast collection of whiskeys, flow and creative commentary on the building’s former existence unfolds. Mugshots of past inhabitants adorn the walls and staff wear vintage prison stripes. Then there’s the atmospheric 40 Elephants Bar, which takes its name from the 40 female thieves who operated in Elephant & Castle, whilst afternoon tea is served in the sweetly scented Parlour-come-Floris perfumery.
The lucky winner will receive:
Two-night stay
Breakfast each morning
Champagne afternoon tea
