On 27th September 1825, Locomotion No. 1 travelled 26 miles with 600 passengers aboard, marking the world’s first steam-powered passenger train journey.

It was a journey that changed everything, marking a revolutionary moment in travel.

Now, The Royal Mint honours this landmark anniversary with an official UK £2 coin.

Available today in Brilliant Uncirculated quality, each coin has therefore been struck to a higher standard than circulating coins and comes protectively sealed in official Royal Mint packaging.
