Saas-Fee/Saastal is perhaps more familiar to the skiers amongst us, but this mountain destination has loads to offer summer visitors too.

Tucked away in a picturesque side valley, Saas-Almagell (1672m above sea level) is the southernmost village in the holiday region of the Saas Valley. The village itself is nestled between towering peaks, with adventure to be found right on its doorstep.

You can follow the Roman flagstone path up to the Monte Moro pass, watched over by the Golden Madonna (gold statue of Mary), or head up to the impressive Mattmark Dam, the largest earth dam in Europe, where you’ll find a great circular route around the reservoir for both walkers and bikers.
