Competition details:

Get ready for the ultimate Caribbean winter escape. We’ve teamed up with Marella Cruises to offer readers the chance to win a seven-night Tropical Isles cruise for two onboard elegant Marella Discovery.

The lucky winner and their guest will enjoy a wonderful adventure, visiting some of the Caribbean’s most vibrant and picturesque destinations. They’ll stay in a comfortable Outside Cabin on Deck 2 or 3, with return flights from London Gatwick included. Departing on 3 March 2026, this incredible seven-night sailing offers a perfect blend of sun-soaked relaxation, cultural exploration, and unforgettable Caribbean landscapes.

Your journey will begin in La Romana in the Dominican Republic, home to palm-fringed beaches with a warm turquoise sea. Visit Altos de Chavón, a replica of a 17th century Mediterranean village, where you can explore artisan shops and dine in restaurants with spectacular views overlooking the gorge. Saona Island is a must-visit for snorkelling and will give you the chance to relax on white-sand beaches, while whale-watching on the nearby Samaná Peninsula is the perfect bucket-list tick for nature lovers. A short sail brings you to Isla Catalina, a tiny uninhabited island surrounded by clear blue waters and forest-clad beaches. Whether you prefer sunbathing or snorkelling, this peaceful paradise is ideal for a day of relaxation. Take a scenic stroll along the island’s natural trails or simply unwind on the golden sands.

One of the highlights of this cruise is a visit to the lively capital of Puerto Rico, San Juan. You can wander the city’s cobblestone streets, where colourful colonial buildings create a postcard-perfect scene. Visit the Castillo San Felipe del Morro, a 16th century fortress overlooking the Atlantic, or indulge in some serious retail therapy at Plaza Las Américas, the Caribbean’s largest shopping mall with more than 300 stores.

Your first stop in the US Virgin Islands will be Charlotte Amalie, the capital of St Thomas and the island group. Famous for its deep natural harbour and colonial history, this city has a rich past, dating back to when Christopher Columbus first landed in 1493. You can learn more about the history of St Thomas at Fort Christian, the oldest structure in the Virgin Islands, which is now a museum. For a more leisurely experience, take a catamaran cruise through the island’s crystal-clear waters, or spend the day shopping for fine jewellery and local crafts in the bustling downtown district.

On the west coast of St. Croix lies Frederiksted, where you’ll find fabulous sun-soaked beaches and landmarks like Fort Frederik, a 250-year-old fortress overlooking the town. Take a dip in the warm Caribbean sea here – thrillseekers can rent a jet ski or join a snorkelling tour to explore the island’s vibrant, colourful reefs.

Your final stop will be Ponce, Puerto Rico’s cultural hub. Known for its neoclassical architecture and artistic treasures, you’ll find Parque de Bombas former firehouse and the Museo de Arte de Ponce, home to an impressive collection of European, African, and Caribbean art. After a week of unforgettable experiences, your tropical adventure finishes back in La Romana.

Marella Discovery boasts an outdoor cinema, a five-storey atrium, and nightly performances in the Broadway Show Lounge. Dining options include eight restaurants, including Surf & Turf Steakhouse and a Sushi Bar, where guests can enjoy expertly crafted meals. For relaxation, there are two pools, a spa, and seven bars to unwind with after-dinner cocktails. If you’re feeling adventurous, challenge yourself on the rock-climbing wall or enjoy a round of mini-golf.
